|Chawton Cottage belonged to Jane Austen's brother, Edward Knight. It was home to Jane Austen, her mother and her sister, Cassandra, from 1809 until her death in 1817. Here, she revised Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice, which she had written some years earlier, and wrote Mansfield Park, Emma and Persuasion. Pencil drawing by Nan. |
