Ramble - "way off topic musings, silliness and general community conversation."
That's the description of the Ramble Board from the main index page. And we encourage you to think about this description when you are getting ready to post on this board. The idea of general interest does not mean that every reader will be interested, but that it's likely to interest more than one or two other people.
General interest also tends to exclude rants, extremely personal matters and day-to-day happenings in one's life. Postings in the nature of weblogs (aka blogs) should be avoided; there are a lot of other web sites for posting blogs.
We also discourage asking for medical, legal, financial or personal advice in the manner of some of the newspaper syndicated columnists (Dear Abby & Ann Landers here in the United States, for example). These types of questions are better asked of your real life family and friends, or possibly by email of your virtual friends. Requests for this type of advice will be deleted. We also request that you not post messages regarding or links to any fundraising events or web sites.
To fully understand Pemberley's position on these issues, please read our Terms of Use.
As Pemberley has citizens with many different religious beliefs, including none at all, we ask that you not post messages requesting prayer.
As a community, we want to share in each others' joys as well as sorrows, to be part of each others' lives. Toward that end, we have expanded our former Birthday board into the Milestones Board. Milestones is the board where you should celebrate your major life events: birthday, weddings, graduations.... And it is also the place where you should go to post about the sad events in your life such as deaths of family and close friends.
Of course, the general Pemberley guidelines also hold true on the Ramble board. No discussion of politics, sports, religion or other topics that may be divisive. Please check our FAQ for more information.
