The union of Col Brandon and Marianne seems strange.
Hmmm... I think I get your point here. She has everything to gain by marrying him but what is in it for Brandon? If it's just an heir or to re-capture his lost youth then I think he could have done this with any number of more eligible (read filthy rich) young women. After all Willoughby gets one.
Perhaps it was that she reminded him so much of his long ago love?
If so then he is deluding himself and his expectations cannot be met, neither of them will be happy. I guess we have to allow for genuine love here, on his part anyway, for their story to have a happy ending.
