In response to Do you think she has passion for him?, written by Arnessa on October 22, 1997 at 11:57:53

I think it's tough when the sex drives of two people do not match (if by passion, that is what is meant). Yes, it can cause problems, big problems. Sexuality is a complex issue, and everyone has their own individual ideas about what works for them. Will the needs of Marianne and Brandon match up? Hard to say----but the last few paragraphs seem to indicate that they enjoyed a contented marriage. And I think JA, with her gift for irony, would have made some comment about their marriage if it were less than ideal. After all, she does make this type of statement about Willoughby: His wife was not always out of humor, nor his home always uncomfortable! and in his breed of horses and dogs, and in sporting of every kind, he found no inconsiderable degree of domestic felicity. So, I think she would have made some similar comment if the marriage of Brandon and Marianne contained something amiss.
