In response to THE END, how does everyone feel?????, written by Rita on October 20, 1997 at 20:41:37

yes the ending is sad in the idealistic sense. maryanne is initially not really in love with brandon, and most of his love for her is based on trying to recreate something he lost in his past. but if you think about it, how many real life relationship are truly based on love alone-there is a combination of things influencing them-ego, past experiences, timing, circumstances. if they are able to find hapiness out of their situation is it any less meaningful than the hapiness found from "true love." such happiness as they have found may even be more permanent.
