Hi rachel,

I know what you mean about Marianne's line. It is so moving. Love shouldn't settle. Marianne is right, but are her judgments sound? She "requires" so much, but is what she requires going to make her truly happy?

Marianne's idealism is heartbreaking. At least, I always find it heartbreaking when the illusions of good-hearted people are spoiled.

You're perfectly welcome to continue the discussion of Marianne's idealism here. We all can respond via this bulletin board. And I'm sure we'd all like to hear (see?) more of the discussion. I hope you'll post more.
