You are right about this! but, besides having noble qualities and a high affinity for poetry, Marianne too had very few qualities that were suited to real marriage.
] Willoughby was a coward. He was always running from responsibility. He wouldn't marry for love, only money.

........... my concern is not an age difference but character and temperament.
and IMHO Jane was far more mature in many ways than Marianne. Rochester was a choice she made right at first but she also has tremendous will power enough to leave him for her values.
Ofcourse, Brandon was no Rochester!
