] I love that scene too because it's Elinor breaking her rigorous self-control, finally! I also love when she does it earlier with Marianne ("What do you know about my feelings?") -- a testament to JA's art (all her words are words of sense, trying to express the feelings of sensibility) and ET's acting (without compare).

That was my favorite scene. But I also particually like the scene where she is passing on Col. Brandon's offer to Edward. The self-control required to do that and not either cry or say other things, would be beyond the control of most mortals. This is one reason why her breakdown at the end is so dramatic.
