Luisa, I agree with you on these points. Brandon I think, did see his former love in Marianne thus my hesitance in calling him truly happy.

Also, Marianne by nature was passionate and I have doubts whether the marriage served this need in her.

Yes, i believe that Passion is a quality of the spirit and must enter a really good relationship at some point-this may happen at the beginning or in the middle but it does preserve a match from becoming stale and predictable.
