Maybe I'll bypass the personal read altogether and opt for the 15 plus hours of Col. Brandon...ugh, I mean Alan Rickman at the helm.
Oh do, do! The tapes are *wonderful*...complete with Rickman singing (more than once) in French and doing all the voices! He's really wonderful. I found the book a bit tedious...a lot of wonderful discriptions...but they kinda were never-ending! =) here's some info if you decide to try and find the audiobooks. I got them thru interlibrary loan at my University library.
