In response to Why do I constantly watch something that always makes me cry???, written by Barbara on August 11, 1998 at 23:08:55

Back to the Sense and Sensibility boardOh Barbara. Thank you so much! I'm crying and smiling! Just beautiful.

And as for crying, all I need to do is watch the S&S promo and I'm a goner!

I never cry during movies, but this movie never ceases to touch some chord with me, everytime I see it-no matter how many times! I am a blubbering idiot by the time Elinor is begging MArianne not to leave her alone. The acting is so beautiful and underplayed and Pat Doyle's score-haunting, wistful, heightening the emotion of the moment.

The waterworks always come on when
Margaret says, "He's kneeling down!" and Marianne turns to her mother--so
THRILLED for Elinor and puts her hand to her mouth saying "Oh Elinor!" I'm getting all
choked up just thinking of it now!!

Makes two of us! The lump starts building for me as this scene begins with Marianne softly singing and Elinor noticing the man on horseback-It's not Colonel Brandon! And, Margaret joyously shouting "Edward!".

The queen of the waterworks for me though is MArianne on that wet hilltop, accompanied by Pat Doyle's lush romanticism.

Willoughby..Willoughby. Completely heartbreaking.
