Back to the Sense and Sensibility board The one point which I thought the movie did really well was reconcile me to the marriage of Marianne and Col. Brandon. As I have gotten older, I have been able to believe that she did learn to love him, but I still feel that the ending is dissapointing since it seems clear that she really isn't in love with him when she marries him. Plus, in the book he seems like a very upright and caring person, but still not that interesting. The casting of Alan Rickmann was brilliant because one needs no stretch of the imagination to see why she fell for him in the end. Heck, I never would have even bothered with Willoughby!!
