What is a hero?

he seems to be a washout as a hero and certainly is far from being in the same class as Col. Brandon.


I feel that Edward, as an honorable man, is a hero. Of course, he is not as dashing or passionate as Col. Brandon, and he has no "past" to make him as tragic as the colonel. But he does have noble characteristics, which make him of heroic quality in my book--and perhaps JA's as well. ( Although the Marianne in me would like to deny it! Because Edward does not seem nearly as interesting a person.) A hero of a different class, but a hero all the same, IMHO. :-)
