] ] To begin with, Edward did ask her to marry him because he fancied her, thought her pretty and was bored. I don't think she tricked him into asking her, and I believe she had genuine feelings for him as a person, in addition to his money.

] I think her feelings for Edward are completely a lie and are exposed as such when she so rapidly transfers her affections to Robert once it's clear she'll be poor.

I still don't think she tricked him into marrying her! And, if she had no feelings for Edward at all and was just waiting until something better came along--well, she had plenty of opportunity being at her uncle's school with all the young men who came around to go for something better!
