] I found what seems to be the definitive Hugh Laurie web page, and it contains the following:
I emailed the person who runs that page and this is the answer....
" Hugh and Imelda have never been married or even romantically
involved. Imelda has been married for 10-plus years to another English
actor whose name escapes me at the moment, and Hugh has been married
since 1989 to the former Jo Green. The costar who used to be Hugh's
girlfriend, back at university, is Emma Thompson. I think the fact that
all three were in Peter's Friends has caused the confusion. It seems to
be well-known that some of the cast of that film have a common past, but
not which ones. Emma T., Stephen F., Hugh, Tony Slattery and the
screenwriter Martin Bergman were the ones who were at Cambridge together
and were all in Footlights. AFAIK, Peter's Friends was the first time
Hugh ever worked with Imelda. Since then, Imelda has made a guest
appearance on A Bit of Fry & Laurie, and of course she and Hugh were
cast in Sense and Sensibility. That's the extent of their professional
relationship. Of course, they may well be friends offscreen."
