I still hold my opinion on "Hollywood Lucy" (the movie version) in that she is not out to hurt Elinor in any way, and that she is not cold and calculating (at least not as far as Elinor is concerned.) However, I wouldn't want to be her friend. She does cancel a five year engagement, and "changes her mind" on which brother she likes. Since this is not "Sabrina," I can't cheer for anyone (except for Elinor). I mean, when you break of an engagement with one brother, and then go to another (whether or not he has money) it just doesn't look good.
I think that one's perspective on Lucy in the movie is left open. She seems to like Robert when she first meets him at the ball. Yet Edward is disinhieritted after the engagement to Lucy is discovered. One can come to two conclussions. 1) She really is fickle in her affections, and changed her mind in who she liked better. 2)She is really fickle, in the sense that she liked Edward's money, and Robert having it doesn't bother her much.
Whatever your conlussion is, breaking a five year promise to one brother, and jumping into the arms of another really does not look good. Even Sabrina never stooped so low! :)
