I wonder how much of our preference is determined by our birth order. How many older siblings like Elinor best, and how many youngest (or younger children) like Marianne better?
] I'm a younger sibling, and I much prefer Elinor. I'm not as responsible as she is, and I have been somewhat spoiled, but I am more like her temperamentally than I am like Marianne, and I would prefer to be still more like her.

I'm like you, Malini. I prefer Elinor over Marianne, who I sometimes wanted to throttle. I could never be as good and devoted as she, but aspire to be like her. BTW, I have a younger brother (but he's not at all Marianne-ish, or I'd probably smack him) ;)
