In response to Thoughts upon seeing the movie again, written by Mark on March 10, 1998 at 10:56:27

Back to the Sense and Sensibility boardI know Jane Austen had written Elinor as a 19 year old, but
I doubt that you can really expect such maturity in 19 year
olds, so I think the age changing in the movie is very reasonable
and appropriate. I can not see anyone else doing the part better
than ET. I think all major parts in the movies are very well
casted except maybe Hugh Grant. If you really want to verify
just how good AR is, watch the S&S produced by BBC in the 1980's .
AR gives Brendon so much that was completely missing in the
BBC version. By the way, I don't think Ang Lee likes Hugh Grant
that much. He made comments to Taiwan reports along the line
of ' he only cares how good he looks, he does not care about
how good his performance is'.
