It continues to amaze me how such a short amount of screentime takes so very long to film. Two days to film the scene where Edward comes in and finds Elinor and Lucy together! How difficult it must be to keep one's sense and feel of the scene during long breaks for lighting changes, and the many repetitions necessitated by it. I should not have the patience for it.

But how well that scene translates from the page to the screen. Say what you will about Hugh Grant, he was terrific there, so uncomfortable and confused. And I loved Emma's comment "Hugh won his BAFTA for Four Weddings and was good in the scene. Bastard." ;-)

In a simialr vein the scene where Elinor tells Edward of the living offered by Col. Brandon, was lovely... very restrained, but with great emotion roiling under the surface... Emma could not get through the rehearsal without crying.

And lastly, I loved the notation by Emma that she had bought a box of chocolates for the nation Trust lady at Saltram, but had eaten it! She really is one of us. ;-)
