I thought we were beginning discussion of the Norland scenes this week, but maybe everyone's waiting for someone to begin. Or maybe I'm early afterall. If the former, I'll jump on in! If the latter, my apologies.

I wish that we had the scene between Mr and Mrs Dashwood that was cut from the movie. It show how much they were in love, their great rapport and understanding of each other, and Mr Dashwood's great concern for the future of his daughters. And some humor, too as they try to predict their daughter's actions:

Mr D: Elinor will try to look after you all, but make sure she finds a good husband. The men are such noodles hereabouts, little wonder none has pleased her.

Mrs D: But Marianne is sure to find her storybook hero.

Mr D: A romantic poet with flashing eyes and empty pockets?

Mrs D: As long as she loves him, whoever he is.

Mr D: Margaret will go to sea and become a pirate so we need not concern ourselves with her.

And then John arrives. But what a nice little scene ET wrote there, I can hear the actors saying the lines. ;-)
