] When one reads all the missing scenes in the screenplay..do you feel the same sense of longing as I do...wishing they were included in the film? Or---do you believe S&S is perfect as is, and wouldn't change a thing?

I think, for a two hour movie, ET did a tremendous job. Yes, there will be missing scenes that we will pine over, but to compress a full length novel into 120 minutes takes a delicate touch. ET definitely has it.

S&S is there in it's essentials. The story is there. You can watch it and feel you have seen S&S. Yes, there will be regrets, but you still come away feeling satisfied.

Contrast that to P&P. The only time P&P was made into a two hour movie was P&P0, which is considered a disaster by most JA fans. P&P has a very tightly woven plot. There just aren't very many flabby bits that can be cut out and still be P&P. I simply cannot see anyway to make P&P without approaching the five hours that A&E/BBC took.

I have watched P&P2 many times. I do pine after some favorite scenes and dialogue that were cut, but overall, I come away thinking I have seen P&P.

I hope this makes sense.

Mark
