] I read somewhere that a goodly number of women (around this time (UK))gave birth within the first several months of marriage. Probably not the upper middle classes and above. In the US there were bundling beds? It was so cold the unmarried couple would bundle up in bed with a board between them. yeah, right. anyway, Im sure things in the US were different that in the UK. :-)

Yes, this was a transitonal time and the rules were getting stricter. Perhaps because of all of the brides who were giving birth within the first months of marriage.;-)
