] Ok, this basically what I have picked up from years of reading regencies/historicals

] 1. After the challenge was issued, seconds (usually 2 friends of each of the participants) got together to decide when and where and arrange for a doctor

] 2. Choice of weapons was up to the challenger

] 3. Pistols or swords were the weapons of choice (pistols were preferred by the English, swords more continental but either was OK anywere)

] 4. If one of the participants apologized the duel was off

But in Willoughby and Brandon's case, wasn't there also something called "deloping" where one would fire into the air?
