Hello, nice to have found you. I want to know about the
possibility of a forced marriage in the Regency period.
Could a man marry a woman whose father had given her to him? Could a clergyman be coerced by threat and bribe to perform a ceremony with a bride who is present only by virtue of restraint? It is the entire premise of my new novel
and since I am a hundred pages into I hope the time period and fictional license will allow it.
