] In "Our Tempestous Days" Princess Charlotte is described as "fat". Now, I don't think she was so, according to the pictures I've seen of her, even if she were not considered slim, pursuant to modern standards.
I'm afraid I can't help you with the ideal weight question, but I can shed some light on Princess Charlotte. Last month I went to the Museum of London and saw a number of her gowns and accessories on display. Looking at the size at the top of her gloves, she was no petite lady. They were rather large! They had some notes accompanying her clothing that mentioned that she was not slim.
