...since the yolk contains the fat of the egg. The book I got the hair wash recipe from was originally published in 1811 so I bet women did try it. And as books and bathing were more common among the rich, I imagine stylish women tried it. As to the results of the hair wash...? I'll leave that experiment to braver souls than me.
