] Does anyone know if there was such thing as an "under-housekeeper"
] I know that there is under-butler and an under-cook (sous-chef)who were the second level of the servant's hierarchy, but what is the woman next in command behind the housekeeper called?
overworked, and underpaid?
It seems like I ran across a list of servants somewhere....but I don't remember where. Off the top of my head I can't even remember reading much about the women servents. ladies maid, scullery maid, kitchen maid...nurse, governess (Wasn't she sorta next in line in JE? well that may not be a great example)
