] ] I never add salt to my food - just kidding! Unfortunately though, I'm finding myself so outmatched on historical knowledge here that I'm not sure where the salt was added. Pretty humiliating stuff since I usually consider myself to be fairly well read and to have a great sense of humor. This is good inspiration for me to read some more historical books from the Regency period though!] I learn new things from the members of this board every day and only occasionally have a bit to add. Any question related to Austen and her times is fine--we all benefit from the clarification and the increased knowledge.

] P.S. Henry VIII had six wives: two lost their heads, two he divorced, one died in childbed giving birth to the only male heir, and one outlived him. And, yes, Henry was responsible for the split with the Catholic church.
