The dining room was on the same level as the kitchen as opposed to with the other areas of entertainment so the food might have the best chance of arriving while still warm. Is this consistent with your info?

] I believe you're right except that I thought the kitchen was in the basement, at least in the usual townhouses. These houses were tall and narrow with four (is that right?) rooms per floor.
