] Does anyone have any info about treating fevers? Were patients commonly bled?

I can't be much help but as far as I know, in those days they knew nothing about blood circulation and so thought that if they let blood from one part of the body it would get rid of an infection there, for instance. Of course when you have a fever the last thing you need is less blood!

I learnt during GCSE History (!) that there were only two 'operations' that were very commonly practised and these were the removal of gall stones and the letting of blood.
