Dear Caroline,
Get ready for more tid bits.I have been reading
posts on modern connections to the Regency with especial
focus on the family of the Earl Spencer.I would like to
tell you about two of Princess Diana's many times Great
Aunts.First is Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire wife of
the owner of Chatsworth A.K.A.Pemberley! The said Duke
of Devonshire was the most eligible bachelor in Georgian
society.After Georgiana married,their Mama decided that her
other daughter could do no better than become Princess of
Wales.She did not marry Prinny though Harriet Frances Spen
cer became Lady Bessborough and gave birth to a daughter;
Caroline Ponsonby who eventually married William Viscount
Lamb.Yes I am referring to Lady Caroline Lamb.That makes
her an however distant connection of Princess Diana.From
reading a bio of Caroline Lamb it intimated mental instability in the Spencer family.Now two hundred years
give or take a year at least for awhile a Spencer was Prin
cess of Wales.How's that for a tid bit?
