REGENCY BALL planned for DC Area

ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROPOSED REGENCY BALL
A few weeks ago there was a discussion on the Life & Times board about the possibility of having a ‘Regency ball’. A couple of ladies in the DC area have made inquiries and found that such a ball will be quite achievable in our area. We have found a ballroom, with hardwood floors, about a 1.25 hour drive from DC and a dance coordinator with an avid interest in English country dancing who is willing and able to engage an English country music band and caller for us.
We are planning this ball for November 14, 1998. We will be asking for ‘subscriptions’ beforehand, the price per person being $20. For anyone coming from out-of-town or those who would like to make a ‘weekend away’ of it in a small country town in Virginia, a list of bed and breakfasts can be provided. The ball will need to be limited to 100 persons, taking into consideration the size of the ballroom and the space required for this kind of dancing.
At this point, we would like to get feedback from those who would want to attend and feel they truly would be able to. We have thought of letting perhaps the Jane Austen Society in Richmond know of the pending date and perhaps the 1812 Societies in Baltimore and Frederick, MD, but would like to let all Pemberlians have the first opportunity!
If you would like to come and believe you would be able to, please email either of us below. If you would like an ‘information packet’ including the list of bed & breakfasts, directions, and other tidbits please mention and we will send. Hopefully within a few days, we will make the final arrangements and get back to everyone with more details.
Thank you --
