] The "fourth position" got me thinking. She's supposed to be a country dancer, but the only "fourth position" I know of is from ballet.Do you reckon she is a stage dancer? (or even an infamous Opera Dancer?) If she's a country dancer, then just how many positions are there in country dancing?

Caroline, I think I remember seeing a copy of the title page, or some page, from the book (Thomas Wilson's An Analysis of Country Dancing, 1811), and that it was a dancing manual. Here's all of "The five Positions of Country Dancing" (not in all that good a scan, sorry):
