Suddenly rich

In response to story details, written by Kathy F. on August 18, 1998 at 08:49:32] Which leads to another question, how would society treat a lower class man who suddenly inherits a vast fortune? (Not my story, but one way of looking at it)--would Miss Bingley throw herself at him for his money, or would she shun him for his background?
The English upper classes have never objected to money. Your suddenly rich man would have no shortage of young ladies willing to marry him for his wealth. He would probably have to endure a few jeers, but that's about all. Read "Vanity Fair" or "Our Mutual Friend" for examples.
