This message was posted on the Historic Costume list, and the author asked that it be passed along. To find out more about the ball, please contact Kathleen at her e-mail address, included in the original message. I am kicking myself that I'll be in SC for a wedding on the day of the ball!

To reenactors, Jane Austen fans, Regency-era buffs--WAR OF 1812 BALL
Where: Riversdale Mansion, 4811 Riverdale Road, Riverdale, Maryland
When: August 22, 1998, from 8 until 11PM.

Period refreshments. Live music for dancing.
It will be open to all reenactors. If you participate in the Battle of Bladensburg Encampment on the grounds of the house during the day, you will get a ticket that gets you into the ball free. I have a list of period dances and tablatures, which I will send out to people who subscribe. We can accomodate about 100 in the house, and maybe 20 or so in the ballroom. We have the first floor and there are changing rooms upstairs. For people participating in the encampment, showers are available at a local high school.
E-mail me at appin1@aol.com for details and reservations.
