] It was interesting to see on one of the sites that there is dispute about the color of Nelson's eyes (blue,or brown). I have a period miniature of him and they're blue in that. So, there's more research to do to verify.[
Shortly after Nelson was injured in the right eye, he wrote in a letter that the eye was 'as far recovered as to be able to distinguish light from darkness, but as to all the purpose of use it is gone... The pupil is nearly the size of the blue part...' [quoted Pocock, "Horatio Nelson", 1987, p. 118] Therefore, you are safe to assume that his eyes were blue, unless Nelson himself was mistaken about it.Edward.
