To L and T index ] And did the groom do much preparation for it?

In MP, when Mr. Rushworth marries Maria, ther is a mention of a new carriage for the wedding--I think the implication was that there wasn't enough time for a new one to be constructed, not that there wasn't money for it--but it was something to be gossipped about that the carriage that carried Mr. Rushworth and Maria was [paraphrased] "the same carriage that carried Mrs. Rushworth [his mom] home from Bath" (I think).

From this, I would say that definitely the upper class men would have at least a new carriage for the wedding, and probably the upper middle class would too.
