There's a book called Jane Austen and The Body - A Picture of Health by John Wiltshire (Cambridge, 1992). I have not seen it myself, but the blurb over at Barnes and Noble says something like 'JA saw no separation between the mind and the body'. Does anyone know more about it? It might deal with the whole idea of JA's attitude to the (then) current theories on the unconscious.
