] Here are a couple of paragraphs from a book called The Reshaping of Everyday Life that I mention in a post below ] A couple of pages later this book mentions that the practice of bundling was already declining by 1800, as Capt. E. mentioned above.
] Bundling was also practiced in Finland. I read an article about it in a newpaper that my jusband gets called "The Finnish-American Reporter".
Well bundling also was practised in sweden more in nothern sweden
than in southern. the custom was that the couple should be fully dressed
and not go all the way.apparently the custom worked fairly well.
Most due to that this was a society were everybody knew eachother ina village and if a boy gota girl pregnant the social pressure to marry her
was very great .Usually only boys known in the village or parish was allowed to bundle.Bundling was mostly a practise in those part off the country were society was rather equal with no great social and economic differences between the farmers.Anna-karin
