In response to PG-13 rule imposed on this thread- everyone please note!, written by Caroline on August 09, 1998 at 11:14:16
The topics that I discussed below are things that I have known about since I was 11 or 12. Either my mother sat down with me and explained them to me or she gave me a clinically written booklet of some sort, so to me all of what I discussed below is PG-13. If there are children younger than 13 reading this or if there is concern about people in other countries or of various religions being offended then perhaps we should change the rating to G. I have no doubt what about what would or would not be appropriate for a G rating, but I wonder how many of us agree on what is appropriate for PG-13? Would be helpful if Pemberley had specific guidelines and spelled out exactly what they consider acceptable or not acceptable topics for a PG-13 rating, because I have seen some PG-13 movies that go far beyond what is discussed below. The guidelines could be part of the home board. Do others think that saying "This is a PG-13 board" is too vague? Does anyone think that having more specific guidelines seems too much like censorship?
