I really would rather that this conversation got no more explicit, for two reasons. One is that we have very young readers in here, and some of them do not live in North America, where such stuff is freely talked about.I think they might find this particular conversation distressing.
The second reason is that casual descriptions of 'how to do an abortion' without any real sound medical advice included, without any 'don't try this at home', is rather irresponsible, don't you think? Pemberley isn't a private club with a closed memberhip, though at times it can feel like it- it's a publicly available service, free to anyone in the whole wide world, whatever their age, sex, location, religion and interests.
Please remember, that we are also dealing with Jane Austen's world here, not the history of the whole world in general. Statements like "They did this" don't have much relevance unless you can back them with something date and location specific.
