Being a premed student (hopefully) I was reading one of my mother's medical books and it had a subject on condoms. Marie-Bernadette is correct with the whole sheepgut tied W/ a ribbon thing and an interesting fact about the ribbon color is that if a man were a solider he could buy what we would probably call "team colors" or the colors of his regiment tied to the condom. Can you imagine it: "I feel that as a member of the 5th Sharpshooters I should use only gold and blue ribbons from now on!" Gracious!
And something I found out while working at Daggett (1760's),raspberry leaves made into a tea (but throughly dried first to prevent death from toxins 8-O) will prevent mensural cramps and also if taken before the quickening will help abort a baby! Of course besides death in childbirth I wonder how many women died in botched abortions? Especially if they tried the coathanger (knitting needle) method!
P.s. I hate double standards!
Now that we have all purged our selfs of "women have/had it so hard" we can now become nice agian!
