To L and T indexThis is what I think, gleaned from all of the books I have read over the years...
I think, that men were very promiscuise, (that cannot be spelled right, but it's late..) I think it was a normal thing for men to frequent what we call today 'escort services'. I think they were called something not very pleasant, and I do not want to say it lest I should get in to trouble. Anyway, I think that even today, especially in upper class circles, women tend to look the other way when it comes to their men's daliances. I think it was probably worse back then, and they most likely most of them did not care. Remember, there was no birth control back then,
and most of the time, women simply refused to service their husbands anymore for fear of more children. The men found little mistresses in town, and the wife turned the other cheek to it. Everyone was happy. Now I know some one will post that 'some men were very faithful to their wives because they loved them..blah blah blah. I know most people tht frequent the RoP are hopeless romantics, (as I am) but these are facts that I have read about very frequently. I wonder if anyone who lived in that period thought anything was very romantic???
