Snip I have just started re-enacting and have yet to wear a stays, although I have patterns for them and plan to make some. You mention that one can lace one's own corset once it has been sized, but with the type of stays that lace up the back, how do you reach to tie it? I have the same trouble with my Regency gown; I can't do up the back myself.
] What sort of stays have you worn? 18th C. with straps, 18th C. with out straps? Regency era long/short? snip
Dear Marie-Bernadette,
Do you re-enact in the US or England or Europe becuase sometimes styles change. To tie it in the back I never untie it, I leave the knots in the ends and pull it over my head like a shirt. (weather period or not it works for me!) Maybe I'm double jointed! I am just starting rev war so I've never worn a regency gown but I would imagine that would be difficult!
I've worn stays with straps for about the decade 1760-1770!
I'll try to replie sooner,
BarbaraK
