To L and T indexHi Mist! It looks like I'm a little bit late on this thread, but it's been a dream of mine to host an Austen ball someday too! The idea about having classes early in the day, then a ball in the evening is a good one. In fact, there's an annual Playford ball up in the Boston area which does that very thing every year. I can dance and teach at least a half dozen of Playford's, plus I've done choreography for one of my own "Flirtation." (English country dance steps, each set is made up of 4 couples and you get a chance to dance with every person of the opposite sex before the dance is over, thus the name...) There are English country dance nights in nearby Minneapolis (I live just over the border in Wisconsin) and dance teachers who specialize in English country dance. The Country Song & Dance Society has a list of organizations all over the U.S. on their web site. (Yikes, it's on my home machine so I can't list it here.)

Places? If I had one it would be in a historic home. With a yummy tea. =)
And we'd all be in Regency dress though of course. Not that I have anything to wear. Yet.

Challenges? I think the biggest challenges would be finding the musicians and finding enough men to dance with!!! There are some good Country Dance bands on the East coast though (like Bare Necessities!!)
