mirrors would have enhanced the lighting also

I may be totally off as to time period, but I have seen wall sconces either mounted or placed near a mirror to further enhance the effect of the candles, making them appear to be twice as large in number as what there actually were. Perhaps this was another way to make the most of the candles one had in Regency times??
