I live in the DC area too and did not know about these dance societies -- you can tell I hadn't done too much research! It sounds like you and your husband would be good dance instructors, Jennie. = ) Do you think this scenario would be successful: a 'ball' with a bunch of people who didn't know one step to an English country dance, but got instruction for the first half in, say, two or three different dances, and then were 'let loose'to just 'do it'? Maybe that approach would work...and with period clothing and live fiddles, etc. it sounds glorious to me. Mist, FL's not too far from DC....
