"Confinement"

"Confinement" really only strictly means the childbirth itself, and a few days afterwards, during which the woman would stay in her room while recuperating. Sometimes the word is used loosely to cover the last stages of pregnancy, but I don't think there were generally any strict restrictions placed on normally-healthy women before the childbirth.
