To L and T index ] I have a question about naming children, especially for all you folks over here on L&T who are real experts on the Regency period.

I've noticed that several of JA's characters are named for family members. For example Gorgianna--for her father George?, Emma has a neice named Emma, and 2 nephews named for Mr. K and her father, Anna Weston has a baby and names her Anna, and Fanny Price was named for her mother Fanny. On a little different line, I've also notice that certain names occur over and over in her books--Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Catherine, Anne. Is that because these were just the common names of the time, like Jennifer or Elizabeth today?
