Narrowing the subject?

Caroline,
I appreciate your help, but I really don't know how to narrow down this subject yet. I don't need this information for a paper or project, it is for personal knowledge. I came across a reference in a Regency novel to the new practices of a Lord Coke. I am looking for any and all information on his techniques and who he was.
If this does not narrow down the subject enough, I apologize for wasting your time. I just don't know where to start.
